Ever imagined who the people with the power to hurt you the most are? In this case, we’re focusing on emotional destabilization.
Our lack of knowledge of the effects of adversity sometimes can go a long way to affect our life productivity.
Adversity – as in a mishap, emotional setback, difficult situations or conditions are inevitable happenings in life, which at one point or the other tend to happen to us all.
Psychologically, we often allow bad things to have an impact on us without us realizing it. Knowing the outcome of a possible negative reality and preparing our minds in advance can help us avoid or reduce its impact on us.
It’s a given, no one ever wants to get hurt, but the truth is that getting hurt is part of what makes and builds us- meaning that getting hurt is not an option in life, it is a must-happen event which we all in one way or the other must experience.
The reason is that in one way or the other man must get out of his way intentionally or unintentionally to hurt you, in other cases, life events
Don’t feel too bad when such happens, it’s bound to happen as it’s inevitable. All you should be thinking about is how you can get hold of yourself to make sure it doesn’t get to you to an extent where you lose yourself completely or to a point where you struggle to stay alive.
In as much as we grow and come of age physically and other times mentally, we still have that tendency of feeling down especially in times of disappointments and betrayals.
Most often, we train our minds and prepare it for the worst-case scenarios in case life happens in unexpected ways, yet even after all the preparation, we do fail ourselves when specific persons hurt us – the people with the power to hurt us.
Let’s look at various situations where we may be forced to get hurt.
3 Situations where we can likely get hurt in life:
Getting hurt can occur in different situations in our lives, it may come from the people with the power to hurt us the most, in other cases, the hurt can come from people without much power to hurt as …for instance, hurt can occur in our lives in different situations, we will take a look at some simple life situations:
- In a deserving situation: This occurs when you deserve a thing and then you are refused it because of reasons which you cannot understand.
Imagine working so hard at work, delivering on projects and helping the company achieve its sets goals and targets, then suddenly when the period of promotion came, instead of being promoted, a colleague who didn’t have as much impact as you did is.
In fact, everyone knows that you are the one deserving of the promotion. But then you didn’t get it. At this point, what happens in the body is a flow of low energy within you. This can cause you to think yourself into sickness. You can get worried and if care isn’t taken, you can fall sick without having any biologically related problem. How about that?
- In an Undeserving situation: This occurs in a form where you do not deserve a thing but then you want it to be given to us.
Imagine a situation where you are friends with the manager and you are lousy at your job. But because you are friends with the manager, you expect him to promote you. In the end, promotion comes and your name isn’t there.
A person with such a mentality would harbor hate, anger, resentment in their hearts for that boss or any person in charge of the whole process.
While this set of persons hurt in their minds due to the fact that their expectations weren’t met, they indirectly hurt their body system and could even fall sick.
- In a Neutral situation: In this case, you are deserving of a thing or you have right to it, not because you worked hard for it, but as a result of either privilege or mutual agreement and understanding, but then, in the end, you didn’t get it.
Imagine a rich father writing his will and omitting one of his sons or daughters from it.
What state of mind do you think that the child whose name was omitted would be in when he or she finds out.
The child will be devastated and it could lead to the child falling ill as it came unexpected and sudden.
Now, this same situation can also happen when you put your money into a security or gamble while expecting a return … In this case, you cannot dictate the market flow or how your luck will go (in the case of the gambler), you cannot say for sure things will turn out how so well even after all your analysis.
But then, you still go-ahead to invest or stipulate. If things turn out not to work in your favor, there is a tendency that you may lose ourselves completely especially if the money at stack is huge.
Say, for instance, a man who just started an importation business suddenly hears that his goods sank in the middle of the ocean. What do you think will be his state of mind? If he is not strong, enough to withstand that hit, he might give up the ghost… of course, there are real-life cases like that.
These are various situations in life where we may encounter the impact of hurt in our minds. But then, we may be able to deal with all these given our level of maturity in life, still there come situations where we tend to fail over and over even after all our preparations, and these cases are as a result of the impact caused by people not life events.
We will look at the two people with the power to hurt us like no other in life.
Two people with the power to hurt us the most in Life
Now the big question is this? Who has the power to hurt us the most and how can we deal with such a situation when they happen, or how can we be proactive to reduce the intensity of the hurt.
These three questions are thoughtful questions that we need to ask ourselves each time to enable us to know how we would react when such events occur.
The two people with the power to hurt us the most in life are:
- The ones we love:
The first people who come to mind when thinking of people with the power to hurt us the most are the ones we love
Love is a binding string that holds people to us. With love we can do things ordinarily wouldn’t do.
Most times, even when we are aware of the attitude exhibited by the one we love, we still find it difficult to control the feeling when it rises.
Love the-feeling is the worst because when it comes it tends to change everything about us, from our thinking to our actions because we are emotionally attached.
The ones who hurt us deeply are mainly the ones we love. Could be a sibling, a father, a mother, could be a dear friend whom we feel deeply for. The hurt that comes from them is almost uncontrollable when they happen, they are unforgettable and can keep us wondering, thinking about it for years to come even after the event has died down.
For instance:
- Parents who abandon their children. For the children, such a move will come as a hit and shock especially if it happened when they had come of age already.
- For two persons in love with each other and suddenly one cheats on the other thereby shattering the mind of the other.
- For siblings where one out of too much greed takes over the other’s rights and shares of their parent’s assets or inheritance. The list can go on and on.
- The ones we trust:
When thinking of people with the power to hurt us the most, the people we trust the most comes to mind.
We have friends whom we can trust with a thing and believe that they will always deliver at it.
We often put our hope in them believing that they will never fail on their words out of the trust we have on them.
So what happens when they suddenly fail? We are torn apart, it seems to us like a movie and we live to never forget such moments making it hard for us to trust new people that come into our lives.
Say, for instance, you have a business idea, and then you decided to share with the one and only friend whom you trust the most in the whole wide world with all your hearts who also happened to be a lawyer.
You shared your strategy with him, and you entrusted the paperwork to him and then he helped you to put things into the right order, but then you never knew that he had his own game plan all through these processes. Suddenly you received a piece of sad news that the system you envisaged and worked so hard to put together has nothing to do with you anymore but your friend owns it 100 percent.
These kinds of situations weaken not just the body but also the soul, not because the business was stolen from you but because it was stolen by the one whom you trusted the most.
Events like this happen in real life can happen to anyone. Most people would end up not being able to deal with it, they go into depression, some would even prefer to kill themselves while other may want to find a way to revenge as a result of the impact, in most cases they want to do all these not because of the even that happened but because of the person in question who happened to be a trusted friend.
One of the people with the power to hurt us the most in life is the ones we trust so much.
Bottom line
Hurt is inevitable, we must try our best to make sure that it doesn’t hit us in such a form that we become incapacitated or out of ourselves especially when the hurt is as a result of the actions of the ones we love and trust in life. However, we can take charge of our mindset if we are aware of the people with the power to hurt us the most. Those people with that capacity to hurt us are people we need to look out and prepare for.
The three instances discussed above in one way or the other tend to happen in our lives ranging from families to our friends to our businesses and to our workplaces.
But the notion that “nobody can hurt us without our permission” according to Mahatma Gandhi is a statement worth thinking through – meaning that we are all prone to hurt but then we can cautiously choose who can hurt us and who can’t.
Hurt can only happen to us if we allow it, but on the other hand, we can’t totally control everything, invariably, it means that we can minimize the impact if we are aware of who can hurt us deeply.
The choice is ours and we have to raise our awareness.
